Estevan Garcia, MD is Vice President and Medical Director for Hospitals Insurance Company. In this new role, Estevan works collaboratively with HIC hospitals to develop and implement innovative approaches to patient safety.
Estevan joined HIC from Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn where he was Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and Designated Institutional Official. Prior to Brookdale, he spent nearly a decade at Maimonides Medical Center where he served in a variety of leadership roles including Medical Director for Quality and Safety/Associate CMO, Vice Chair, Emergency Medicine, and Fellowship Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. During his time at Maimonides, Estevan also served as Medical Director of the Jewish Board of Family and Children Services and as Medical Director, Pediatric Emergency Services at Maimonides affiliate Lutheran Medical Center.
Estevan earned a BA in Psychology from Austin College in Sherman, TX and an MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He completed his pediatric residency and a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Children’s Medical Center, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He holds an MPA in Healthcare Policy and Management from New York University and is completing a Doctorate in Urban Public Health from the City University of New York.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Estevan is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College. He is also a Certified Physician Executive and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety.
